TECHNICIAN INSPECTION COURSE - PART 1

The IDEST Technician Inspection Course Part 1 (TIC1) is designed for technicians aiming to perform thorough inspections of cylinders in test centres. This course forms the initial phase of a two-part training program, with participants having the flexibility to complete the full course or attend Part 1 and Part 2 separately. In compliance with the HSE’s Pressure System Safety Regulations 2000, it is essential for owners and employers to ensure their employees receive adequate training to competently execute their duties safely.

Part 1 of the course is tailored for individuals seeking to become cylinder testing technicians. It imparts the necessary knowledge and practical skills for visually inspecting diving cylinders both externally and internally. Part 2 of the course delves into the physical testing of cylinders using hydraulic test rigs, stamping, and the issuance of cylinder test certificates.

Aim of the Course
By the end of this short course, students will be able to:

• Confidently and competently visually assess diving cylinders both externally and internally.
• Determine whether a cylinder can be safely filled or if it requires a test or further action.
• Accurately complete the booking-in form and visual assessment form.

The course is structured as a workshop lasting approximately 3 to 4 hours. It begins with a brief presentation covering the following topics, followed by a practical workshop session where participants will book in cylinders and evaluate their safety. Completing a visual assessment form concludes the process.
