RESCUE TO DM KOH PHI PHI
FAQs:
How spectacular is the diving around Koh Phi Phi?
Koh Phi Phi is considered one of Thailand’s premier dive destinations, famous for clear waters, stunning coral reefs, and an abundance of marine life including turtles, sharks, and huge schools of fish. The local dive sites are all within a 40-minute boat ride, minimizing travel and maximizing time underwater. Most training dives explore sites frequented by Phuket-based boats, so you’re experiencing the best diving in the region.
Are there reef ecology and marine science programs I can join?
Yes, Adventure Club offers add-on reef ecology experiences that can be combined with the Divemaster internship. This may include involvement with coral nursery and conservation projects, underwater photography, and the opportunity to assist in snorkeling trips, exposing trainees to sustainable tourism practices and marine science in action.
What is the social atmosphere like during the course?
Phi Phi has a legendary social scene—divemasters often join evening gatherings or island events with fellow trainees, instructors, and backpackers from around the world. Adventure Club maintains a friendly, professional, and supportive environment, making it easy to meet people and build lifelong friendships while developing new dive skills.
Where can I stay while training, and is accommodation included?
Accommodation is not included in the course, but Adventure Club is happy to offer advice and recommendations for places to stay, catering to various budgets from hostels to comfortable guesthouses. The island is compact and walkable, with plenty of amenities, restaurants, and social spots close to the dive center.
What is life like as a Divemaster trainee on Koh Phi Phi?
A trainee’s life includes daily boat rides to stunning dive sites, workshops, and dive guiding, punctuated by lunchtime on the boat and afternoons spent exploring the island or relaxing on the beach. Living costs are low, the local food is excellent, and it’s a safe, welcoming location—ideal for adventurous solo travelers and those seeking to immerse themselves in dive culture.
What do I need to bring or budget for?
Basic costs include PADI course manuals and membership fees. All BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, and fins are provided during your internship, but you’ll need to purchase your own mask, snorkel, and a few safety items. Lunch and refreshments are provided on dive days as part of your program.
How do I balance learning and fun?
Training is hands-on and flexible: after theory in an air-conditioned classroom, you’ll join practical sessions, real dive operations, and community events. There’s ample opportunity to enjoy nightlife, beach sunsets, or join conservation activities—balancing world-class training with a relaxed, sociable lifestyle.
