MSDT ANDAMANS

FAQs:

Why choose the Andamans for specialty instructor training?

The Andaman Islands are renowned for their breathtaking dive sites, exceptional visibility, and thriving marine biodiversity. Training here means you’ll gain experience teaching and diving at sites that range from vibrant shallow reefs to spectacular offshore pinnacles, offering the perfect environment to master multiple specialties.

What makes the dive sites around Havelock unique for specialties?

Havelock boasts world-class deep dive sites like Johnny’s Gorge and Dixon’s Pinnacle. These offshore pinnacles feature dramatic underwater topography, strong currents, and a rich variety of marine life—from swirling barracuda schools and patrolling reef sharks to giant groupers and playful turtles. For naturalist and underwater photography specialties, sites like Jackson’s Gorge offer teeming coral gardens, healthy gorgonian forests, and macro critter hotspots, making every dive a learning and teaching opportunity.

How does having specialty instructor ratings help my career?

Specialty instructor certifications open up more job opportunities worldwide. Many live-aboards, resorts, and busy dive centers specifically seek instructors qualified to teach Nitrox, Deep, Underwater Naturalist, and Photography courses. These credentials make you a more attractive hire, increase your earning potential, and allow you to guide and inspire a broader range of students. Five Specialty Instructor ratings are required to achieve the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating.

What hands-on knowledge will I gain during these trainings?

Specialty instructor courses in the Andamans aren’t just about ticking boxes—they fine-tune your diving and teaching techniques in real-world settings. Workshops led by acclaimed course director Mark Soworka include marine resource management, local ecology briefings, and Scubapro equipment seminars. These sessions deepen your understanding of the marine environment and diving technology, helping you evolve into a competent, environmentally conscious, and versatile instructor.

Can I try or assist with unique specialty dives as part of the course?

Absolutely. The dynamic dive environment allows you to assist, observe, and teach specialty courses in live settings—whether it’s deep dives on offshore pinnacles or macro photography at critter-rich sites. This hands-on exposure boosts both confidence and employability.

In short, specialty instructor training in the Andamans provides an unparalleled mix of world-class diving, expert mentorship, and practical teaching experience in one of Asia’s most exciting marine environments.
