MSDT KOH TAO : PADI MSDT PREP COURSE
FAQs:
What is the MSDT Prep course?
The Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) Prep is a professional-level program designed for new instructors who want to expand their skills and teaching opportunities. During this course, you will complete training in five PADI specialties, making you more versatile and employable as a dive professional.
Which specialties are included in the MSDT Prep on Koh Tao?
Specialties vary depending on your interests and local diving conditions, but common options include Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Nitrox (Enriched Air), Digital Underwater Imaging, Peak Performance Buoyancy, and Night Diver. Koh Tao’s variety of sites makes it the perfect environment to gain real-world specialty teaching experience.
What makes Koh Tao ideal for the MSDT Prep?
Koh Tao offers access to world-class dive sites suited for specialty training. Beginners and advanced divers alike benefit from its sheltered bays for foundational work, as well as offshore pinnacles and wrecks that provide exciting, professional-level experiences.
Will I get to dive the offshore pinnacles during my Deep specialty?
Yes. For the Deep Diver specialty, training often takes place at sites like Chumphon Pinnacle, famous for its dramatic depth, vibrant anemone gardens, and schooling barracuda. It’s also one of the best chances to encounter whale sharks during your training.
Is wreck diving included in the MSDT Prep?
The Wreck Diver specialty is a popular option on Koh Tao. You’ll gain real skills navigating and penetrating local wrecks such as the HTMS Sattakut, a former Royal Thai Navy vessel now thriving as an artificial reef. The training covers proper line use, safety techniques, and responsible wreck exploration.
How long does the MSDT Prep take?
The program usually takes 4–6 days, depending on scheduling and chosen specialties. You can join directly after completing your Instructor Development Course (IDC).
