To enroll, you must be a certified PADI Divemaster (or equivalent), have logged at least 100 dives, be 18 years of age or older, and hold a valid diving medical certificate issued within the last 12 months.

The IDC typically runs for around 2 weeks (12–14 days) including the Instructor Development Course itself, preparation workshops, and the PADI Instructor Examination (IE). Many students also extend their training with specialty instructor courses.
